NAMIREMBE: The Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rt Rev Dr Paul Moses Samson Naimanhye, the newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Mission and Outreach for the Church of Uganda, has unveiled plans to transform the Directorate with emphasis on establishing a comprehensive training program for evangelists.

NAMIREMBE: The Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rt Rev Dr Paul Moses Samson Naimanhye, the newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Mission and Outreach for the Church of Uganda, has unveiled plans to transform the Directorate with emphasis on establishing a comprehensive training program for evangelists.

Speaking in an interview shortly after his maiden Board meeting at Namirembe Guesthouse in Kampala today, Bishop Naimanhye said that equipping individuals with the necessary skills, knowledge, and theological understanding would enhance the effectiveness of their outreach efforts.

“There is a need for a training program that includes courses on cross-cultural communication, contextualization of the gospel, and community development,” said Bishop Naimanhye.

He added, “By investing in the development of competent and passionate mission workers, the Church’s message will reach diverse communities and resonate with unique contexts.”

Bishop Naimanhye recognized the importance of providing practical resources to support mission work. He said that there is a need to set up a dedicated fund within the Directorate of Mission and Outreach to provide financial assistance for mission projects and initiatives.

“This fund will support mission in remote areas and implementation of sustainable development projects aimed at improving the lives of local communities. By actively supporting and funding mission projects, it will demonstrate the Church’s commitment to holistic transformation and the alleviation of social and economic challenges faced by communities,” said Bishop Naimanhye.

He also emphasized the need for collaboration and partnership both within the Church and with external organizations.

He encouraged Dioceses and Parishes to work together in coordinating and implementing mission initiatives, fostering a sense of unity, and shared purpose.

Bishop Naimanhye also noted the need for partnerships with other Christian denominations, local NGOs, and government agencies to leverage collective resources and expertise.

“These collaborations will help us to have a more coordinated and impactful approach to mission and outreach, enabling the Church to address complex challenges and reach wider audiences.” He said.

On adopting technology in the work of mission and Outreach, Bishop Naimanhye said that the Church will explore innovative methods and technologies for gospel proclamation, recognizing the evolving nature of communication and the need to embrace new avenues for sharing the message.

The Director of Mission and Outreach, Rev Simon Peter Ddembe Lya Yesu said he is confident that with Bishop Naimanhye’s passion for mission, the Directorate will register great successes.
